What Cheer Figure Eights Continue On

Summer of fun has begun around Keokuk County. Last weekend, Saturday, June 1st, the What Cheer Fairgrounds hosted the first of the summer figure eight races. With perfect temperatures and no rain, the races were a great way for Keokuk County residents to rev up their summer weekends.

Many people from the fair board worked together to pull this event off: From flag wavers at the finish line and the starting line to those keeping the drivers organized.

To kick off the night, drivers started with “hot laps”, which provide an opportunity for the drivers to show off their cars before the race begins. After the hot laps, the crowd rose to their feet for the national anthem.
