Stout draws more attention as season near

JD Stout has been named a Preseason Player of the Year and is one of the area’s top recruits from the class of 2020.

JD Stout has been one of the top players on the Keota Eagle’s basketball team ever since he stepped foot on the court. He played on the varsity squad his first two years and has continued to gain more attention as each season goes by. Heading into his junior year, JD has been chosen as a Preseason Player of the Year, ranking as one of the top recruits from the 2020 class.

In his first season, JD helped his team achieve a 17-6 record, starting all 23 games and averaging just over eight points per game. He also led the team in free throw percentage, converting on over 80 percent of his attempts. The Eagles followed that up with a 15-7 season last year as JD took an even bigger role as starting point guard. He nearly tripled his offensive output, averaging just below 24 points per game, finishing up with 519 points.

In addition to his aggressive play on offense, JD has been just as effective elsewhere on the court. Last season, he tied the team lead with 45 steals and finished second on the team with 58 assists and 12 blocks. It’s not easy to continue putting up even bigger numbers, but that’s the goal over the next two years.
