The players and coaches of the South Iowa Cedar League’s 12 volleyball teams were recognized for their efforts this past season when postseason awards were announced this past week. Seven area players were recognized as Honorable Mention selections for the SICL’s all-conference team.

Keota’s senior duo, Addison Swanson and Jaime Schulte, were each selected in their final season. Swanson led Keota in kills (106), aces (31), and blocks (10). Her 106 kills ranked 18th overall in the SICL. She also ranked third on the team with 90 digs. Schulte amassed a team-high 139 digs, 57 kills, and 15 aces.

Chris Carter’s Sigourney Lady Savages saw two players earn Honorable Mention status for 2019. Senior Makenna Hammes garnered 96 kills and a team-high 49 blocks in her last season. She ranked seventh in the SICL in blocks. Madelyn Hornback, just a sophomore, found her way onto the all-conference list for the second straight season. She led the Lady Savages in digs and aces, with 230 and 39 respectively. Her 230 digs ranked 17th in the league.
