Ramsey Building Project Brings Lt. Governor to Keota

Keota had a special visitor last Monday, February 25, 2019, when Lt. Gov. Adam Gregg stopped by to review the plans and progress on The Ramsey Building project. The building, located at 204 E Broadway Avenue in Keota, is now the site of a historical preservation project, organized by Attorney Scott Flynn. The Ramsey Building is owned by SDF Properties, LLC, and Scott Flynn is the sole member of the LLC.

The Ramsey Building has stood vacant since the devasting fire in 2010 that destroyed five of Keota’s downtown buildings. Now, nine years later, the renovation will begin to return the building to its former historical glory. As Flynn has discovered, the final stages of actual renovation merely mark the end of a long journey of research and paperwork.

During a short meeting before the tour, in the Libertyville Savings Bank Meeting Room, Gregg asked Flynn several questions about the project and the process. One of his first inquiries indicated a curiosity for when the project began. Flynn explained that the first step was to get The Ramsey Building listed on the National Historical Registry. This was accomplished in April of 2017.
