RAGBRAI Committee sets the record straight at town hall

Sigourney, Iowa- In January, Sigourney earned the right to be one of eight hosts for this year’s RAGBRAI, with the town being selected as an overnight community. On July 26, 15,000 bicyclists will come into Sigourney to celebrate one of Iowa’s most special events. Since the July announcement, much work has gone into the overnight stay, with numerous committees being formed, and many volunteers requested for the big day. As is common with any major event, many people still have a lot of questions about how the event will impact Sigourney. To answer those questions and dispel any rumors that may have been circulating, Sigourney’s RAGBRAI Executive Committee held a town hall style meeting at memorial hall on the evening of April 26. RAGBRAI Executive Committee Co-Chair Amber Kephart said that the meeting was a success.

“I feel that the town meeting went very well. There were a lot of wonderful, important questions asked. There have been a lot of rumors going around about this and that and we wanted to stop them,” she said.
