Loebsack tours Fagen Elevator

U.S. Congressman Dave Loebsack (D-IA) spent an afternoon on Monday, Sept. 18 visiting
with constituents across southeast Iowa, and one of his stops was in Keota at the Fagen
Elevator.
Loebsack spoke extensively with Larry Fagen about the process of grain storage and the
current state of the agriculture business as they walked together through the facility, joined by
District Representative Bri Dennison and Ryan Fagen.
“I’ve been to grain elevators before, but it was great to hear more about how the
process works, such as buying and selling the grain and hearing about pricing fluctuates up and
down,” Loebsack said. “This is a competitive industry. [Fagen] doesn’t have any one corner in
the market. He sells a lot to ethanol plants and competing with other folks around the area
doing the same thing.”
Congratulations were also in order as Fagen Elevator recently celebrated 100 years in
business. Loebsack wished the best for Fagen and his family’s business. For more, pick up the Keota Eagle at your nearest newstand.
