Lady Eagles can’t hold on after taking early lead at Sigourney

Jaime Schulte reached base two times via walks and drove in one run but the Lady Eagles lost 3-15 to Sigourney on June 22.

The Lady Eagles faced one of their toughest opponents for the second time this season, this time traveling on the road to play Sigourney on June 22. In their first meeting, Keota was shutout and Sigourney racked up double-digit runs. Sigourney scored in the double-digits again and beat Keota 3-15.

Sigourney would need a rally before they took over the game as Keota took a small lead early on. Sigourney was kept off the scoreboard in the bottom of the first and the Lady Eagles took the momentum gained from their defense and transferred it to their offense, resulting in three runs scored.

The lead didn’t last long enough as the Lady Savages brought home 14 runners in the bottom of the second and another run in the third to end the game at 3-15.

After Mikayla Beatty got through the better part of two innings on the mound, Sky Weber finished the game and allowed two hits and one run to score.

    Lady Eagle leaders: Jill Schulte – 1 hit, Callie McNurlen/Taylor Kindred/Jenna Jaeger – 1 run, Jill Schulte/Jaime Schulte/Paige Thompson – 1 RBI, Callie McNurlen – 1 SB

The Lady Eagles wrapped up their final games of the regular season beginning on the road at Tri-County on June 25 followed by hosting Iowa Valley on June 27.
