Keota wraps up XC season in Iowa City

Paige Thompson had the best finish for the Lady Eagles at the State XC Qualifying meet, closing out her career in 41st place with a time of 24:25.65.

Jayden Lawson was the lone boy to run for Keota at the Qualifying meet, running a time of 20:58.57 to finish in 77th place. 

The Keota Eagles saw their cross country season end when they competed in the State Qualifying meet on October 18 in Iowa City. While none of their boys or girls wound up advancing to State, they did finish off the year on a positive note.

The Lady Eagles had three runners compete including Paige Thompson, running in her final meet of her high school career. She stayed near the middle of the field from the start and was the first Keota girl to finish, taking 41st place after running a time of 24:25.65. Jenna Jaeger also finished off her second season with the girls’ XC team in 66th place, clocking in at 26:08.78.

The final girl on the team to finish was Bailey Sieren. She concluded her first season on the team with a 87th place finish with a time of 28:09.60.

On the boys’ side, Jayden Lawson finished out a season in which he continued to get better as the season went on. Lawson ran in the middle of the field for most of the competition, closing out the final stretch with a big kick to finish 77th, running a time of 20:58.57.
