Keota girls face tough slate in week one

Through three games, Mikayla Beatty has drawn all three starts by facing Belle Plaine, English Valleys and Sigourney. Her best game thus far was against EV in which she struck out one and allowed two hits, along with nine walks.

For a team looking to put the puzzle together a piece at a time, and get needed experience, the Keota softball team didn’t get much luck by facing Belle Plaine, English Valleys and Sigourney in their first week of play.

In the three games, the Keota girls were unable to put a run up on the board and were outscored by several dozen runs. Their best game offensively was against English Valleys, in which they saw Paige Thompson and Jaime Schulte record one hit apiece.

On the mound Mikayla Beatty pitched all three games, her best performance against English Valleys. Against the Lady Bears, Beatty allowed two hits and struck out one in three innings pitched.

While the Lady Eagles haven’t been able to put it all together, the young team with a new coach is still feeling everything out. They were scheduled to face Lone Tree next on May 29.
