Des Moines – Keota made it back to State meet May 16-18, this time competing in three events with four different athletes. Justin Moeller was the most versatile athlete among the four, competing in two track events and one field event.

Moeller earned a couple medals along the way, including one individual medal. Moeller put down a jump of 19’-10.25” on his first attempt, then jumped for 20’-5.25” and fouled on his third attempt. He figured he wouldn’t advance to the finals, but he did.

He got three more attempts, three in the 19.5’ vicinity and improved with a jump of 20’-1.00”. Moeller ended up in eighth place and still finished with a medal.

Keota also qualified with their DMR team consisting of JD Stout, Sam Sieren, Wyatt Sieren and Moeller. They had the potential to make it to State for much of the season, winning the District event and getting an auto bid to run on the Blue Oval. By doing so, they made it into the last section of the event, which they ran a time of 3:39.49, placing sixth in the section and eighth overall, earning a medal. The four also set a new PR by almost three seconds.
