Keota Board Makes Changes to Handbooks

Members of the Keota School Board met Aug. 8 in regular session and made some changes to the district handbooks and approved some personnel changes. Much of Thursday’s meeting was informational with school superintendent Jim Henrich and pre-k principal Alex Klopfenstein providing updates.

Both the teacher handbook and the Keota Elementary student-parent handbook contained minor changes. Henrich and Klopfenstein each said the changes dealt with elimination of some wording regarding staff dress and time changes for entrance into the elementary building.

Henrich said the major change was to the date of commencement. He explained that seniors are allowed to miss up to five instructional days in relation to commencement. Commencement will be held on Sunday, May 24.

Superintendent Henrich went over his goals as an administrator for the 2019-20 academic year. The goals were broken into two areas, leadership and learning.
