JD Stout named KCII Athlete of the Week

JD Stout was recognized for his success this season on the football field when KCII recently announced him as their athlete of the week. The selection was made after his best performance of the season when the Cobras took down the EBF Rockets 48-34. In the win, Stout accounted for five rushing scores, amassing 250 yards along the way on 24 touches.

“I am very honored to receive the KCII Athlete of the Week. It means a lot to me to be recognized for this game. I credit my offensive line and all my teammates, without them it wouldn’t be possible for me to have such a good game,” Stout said. “It’s always nice to be recognized for a good game. I want to use that and push myself to play harder for the rest of the games this season.”

Stout helped fill the void that Carson Crawford left on the team. Their top rusher a year ago, Crawford was poised for another big season, but an injury cut those hopes short. Now it’s up to Stout and the rest of the backfield to continue running the ball effectively and physically week in and week out.

“The win against EBF was a huge win,” Stout said. “It proved to everyone that we have guys that can step up and play, especially since losing Carson was such a big loss. We can still go out every Friday night and compete.”

Stout has already had a productive season four games in, totaling 524 rushing yards on 73 carries, scoring 11 times. He also has recorded 9.5 tackles on defense, nine of which were solo tackles and one tackle for a loss of yards.

With half the season complete, Stout has his eyes focused on the end game while taking it one game at a time.

“My main goal for the rest of the season is to make the playoffs,” Stout said.

The Cobras host Van Buren for their Homecoming game on September 28 before closing out the season with some tough competition.
