Honoring Lisa and the late Gene Brenneman as Keota Fun Days Grand Marshal

Lisa and Gene Brenneman

The town of Keota is home to many, and the month of June means the biggest event of the year is up coming. One of the main events is the Grand Parade, which honors an individual as the annual Grand Marshal. This year being honored is Lisa and the late Gene Brenneman.

Lisa and Gene have been life long Keota natives, except for a few years when Lisa had a teaching job in Schaller, Iowa. They have raised their family and have enjoyed many years in the town of Keota. Being apart of the small community and having the opportunity to enjoy Fun Days every year, Gene got to know many individuals, and was not a stranger to most. As Lisa mentions, “he would talk to anybody” and would always find out what brought them to the small town of Keota, Iowa.

“Last year or a couple of years ago, we played in the bags tournament,” Lisa said. “We were at least around that day…and he liked that because then he got to see a lot of people during Fun Days and he always ran into people he hadn’t seen for awhile.”
