Elementary Counselor: Marnie Schraeder

Tuesdays and Thursdays you will find Marnie Schraeder throughout Keota Elementary in classrooms providing classroom guidance and preventative skills, holding small breakout groups such as lunch bunch to aquaint herself with children, holding need based programs and providing individual counseling for students.

Schraeder and her husband Denny currently live in Kalona with their four children, twelve year old Madeline, nine year old Caroline, six year old Holden and five year old Gavin who attend Mid-Prarie Schools.

Schraeder received her bachelors of Elementary and special education from Northwest Missouri State and her Masters from the University of Iowa in school counseling.

Although Schraeder has spent the last nine years being a stay at home mom, she previously taught special education in both Ottumwa and Sigourney and then spent eight years in Iowa City at Hoover as a counselor.

“I am looking forward to doing what I love most, working with children. I am also excited to be back to work with adults and just the experience of being in a working community,” Schrader says. “ I lived in the Keota community for ten years so it is nice to be back in the small town community. I have heard amazing things about Josh Smith and the staff so I am excited to get to know everyone. My door is open for every kid. I want to be involved in all efforts throughout the school.”

If you see Mrs. Schraeder around the building feel free to stop in and say hello and introduce yourself and welcome her to the Eagle’s Nest.
