EagleRock! 23rd Annual Spring Concert

Once in EagleRock!, forever a member, as these two extra singers in street clothes demostrated when they joined to do a number from last year before they graduated.

Keota – EageRock! dazzled the crowd one last time for the school year Wednesday, April 24 in the Keota High School Gym under the direction of Jane Edwards. Soloist, Jaydin Boer (11th) kicked off the 23rd Annual Concert, with the Alicia Keys song, “Girl On Fire.” Her rendition of the piece heated up the crowd of parents, grandparents, citizens and fellow students, who didn’t settle down much for the remaining of the event. Applause for Senior, Lauren Imhoff’s version of “Shallow” erupted from the student section with a standing ovation. During her song, the entire section had their cell phones out, waving them back and forth in true ‘fan’ fashion. Other soloists included Junior, Anna Duwa with “Sound of Silence,” June Daing (12th) with “You Will Be Found,” and Taylor Conrad (11th) with the song “Requiem.” (Check out the Keota Eagle Facebook page for live performances of these solos.)

Once the soloist were done wowing the crowd it was tradition time. Once in EagleRock!, always in EagleRock!, as the first song in every performance at the school is always one for alumni. The current ER students begged, hollered, and cohersed the former members onto the risers for the traditional number of ( ). Another ER! forever number followed the first with two alumni from last year’s group remaining on the risers for another dance down memory lane.

The remaining pieces featured several solos and stirred the crowd either with tears or foot taps. The song “Dream Small” with solos by Justin Moeller and Lauren Imhoff seemed to move the crowd in particular, although the dancers remained mostly still during this number. ER! closed out the show with lots of jiving however, with the upbeat number, “I’m Still Standing” that seemed to make everyone feel like dancing.
