Conrad to Run for Sheriff in 2020

Keota Police Chief Doug Conrad drove an announcement to run for Keokuk County Sheriff in 2020 in the Sigourney 4th of July Parade.

For anyone who caught the Hedrick BBQ Days parade on June 22, or the 4th of July Parade in Sigourney and What Cheer, this is old news. Conrad chose to announce his pitch for the office in a celebratory way because he is excited to serve the community of Keokuk County.

As a law enforcement officer in Keota for almost 30 years, Conrad has worked with many Keokuk County employees over the years. He said he has tried to learn the best qualities from all the former sheriff’s and will try to incorporate them all if he gets the chance to serve.

“The mission of the Keokuk County Sheriff’s Office is to provide professional, compassionate, objective, and transparent community based policing to the residents and visitors of Keokuk County by providing exemplary law enforcement, detention, and court security that protects and preserves the Constitutional Rights of the people and mandates the fair and impartial enforcement of the law,” Conrad said.

If elected, Conrad will focus heavily on officer safety, as well as keeping the community safe. His tactical experience in Washington County will help with the training he has in mind for deputies.
