CEW makes more memories in Sigourney

Donnie Peppercrickets and Tim Rhodes managed to out-dual JT Energy and Supafli J Fowler to take the tag-team Championship Belt inside Memorial Hall on March 2. Sigourney was the final stop on tour before CEW returns to Oskaloosa for its 10-year Anniversary.

Faithful Central Empire Wrestling fans and Sigourney residents alike made their way to Memorial Hall on March 2 to see a handful of professional wrestlers in the ring with Championship belts on the line. Among those throwing down were JT Energy (Six-Star Booty), Supafli J Fowler (Buns of Steel), Savanna Stone, Donnie Peppercricket and Rory Fox to name a few. To give it more of a local touch, Sigourney wrestling alum Stephen Stonebraker donned the stripes to ref each match.

Fans cheered and jeered as each match proceeded, making it clear who they were rooting for, or against. Stone successfully defended her Championship Belt but needed to take down two opponents in the first ever Triple Threat Match in CEW History. Sierra and Renae hoped to steal the belt themselves but a vicious reverse takedown off one of the corners of the ring ended up being the final blow and left Stone with just enough energy left to stand up and acquire her belt. The crowd roared with approval and then she said her trademark words, “You can’t break Stone”.

After the conclusion of the match, Stone took the mic to briefly thank the fans and mentioned how she was proud to work for a company that works to end sexual abuse. With wrestling being put in the limelight in recent weeks for several different instances, CEW came in with a goal of pushing past that and they can beat their adversity while putting on family-friendly entertainment.

The “Booties” (JT Energy & Supafli) aligned in a tag-team match against “The D&T Dynasty” composed of Peppercricket and Tim Rhodes. They began the match by playing chicken, with Energy supporting Supafli and Peppercricket supporting Rhodes. After a brief tussle the fight truly began and soon all four were in the action within the ring. Both teams had chances to end it but came up just short before the D&T Dynasty finished off Energy and Supafli to claim the Tag-Team Championship belt.

Another fan favorite, Fox, ended the night with a hope of taking back the CEW title but would have to take down Shawn Nautilus to do so. Nautilus came in having held the belt for two years, and he would keep his streak alive. Fox came close to pulling off the upset but, to the crowd’s dismay, Stonebraker didn’t finish the count, leading to Nautilus regrouping and eventually throwing down Fox enough times to keep his title.

Bayliss hopes to bring his show back to Sigourney later this year, with a possibility of returning in the fall.
