2019 Foundation Scholarship Recipients

The Keota community has come through in a BIG way to show support for the Keota High School graduates and their educational endeavors.  This year the Keota Education Foundation in its 25th year of providing the Keota High School seniors scholarships was able to provide over $20,900 to the students of the 2019 graduating class. Scholarship money is provided through fundraisers, donations by community members, alumni, memorials, trusts, and endowments.

This winter, a rather lengthy application form was distributed to any senior interested in applying.  This year 15 seniors applied.  Committees anonymously evaluated all applications.  The applicants were given point values for eight different areas: grade point and college preparatory classes, work experience, community involvement, school involvement, an essay on future goals and plans, ACT scores, years attending KHS, and a citizenship appraisal compiled by teacher evaluations.  The numbers were then compiled and dollar amounts were assigned according to the points the student received.  Every year effort is made to make this process fair and unbiased.
