The parade did not have candy thrown, but under sunlit skies, North Mahaska Elementary and junior-senior high school, teachers and staff paraded through the streets of New Sharon Saturday night. RD Keep | MAP Photos

Some North Mahaska students waited to see their favorite teachers. Pictured are Oaklyn Hansen (3), Griffin Hansen (1), Dodge Duke (15), Daisy Duke (12) and Uriah Hansen (8). Talking with students along the route many said they missed their teachers and friends. None mentioned school work specifically, but seemed to wish life would get back to normal.

Staff of the Capri Theatre wave to teachers Saturday before doling out popcorn. Even though the theatre is closed for now, they serve up popcorn to willing customers delivering curbside. They plan to be there each Saturday from 6-7 p.m.
